Our App

To raise more awareness and to expand the range of our project, we decided to design our own app.

The target group are people who live in cities and want to improve their habit to a healthier and ecofriendlier one. Our app is aligned for every age and language group through multiple language settings and a clean appearance. We want to help the users to accomplish their personal goals. The application features a point system  to motivate to eat healthy, grow ones own food, take the stairs instead of the elevator etc. There are also lots of healthy recipe ideas as an inspiration and as an alternative to buying a ready dish.
But we don't only want to help the environment, we also have in mind to support smaller shops and restaurants by suggesting local alternatives to fast food chains or large concerns.

MAP YOUR FOOD

We wanted to find out if people knew where the products they are consuming come from. To this end, we decided to interview a few randomly selected people on the Zeil, a highly frequented shopping lane in Frankfurt.
We chose 3 typical fast food restaurants: Starbucks, Mc Donalds and Pizza Hut. We positioned ourselves in front of these restaurants and asked the customers coming out of the restaurants to show on a world map where they thought the food they just bought comes from.
The result was that only 40% of the people were right about the origin of their food. Most people had no idea where their food came from.

Did you know?

Did you know that nearly all products you can buy at Starbucks are of non-European origin?
The milk in your coffee for example comes from India, the apples in your apple pie were cultivated in Central Asia.
